The Art of
Buna

One pour, raised high above the cup. A thread of coffee meeting crema. This is the moment our entire ceremony is built around.

Our story

From Yirgacheffe to your table

We work directly with smallholder growers in Yirgacheffe and Sidamo, roasting in small batches a few times a week. Our baristas are trained in both the espresso bar and the traditional ceremony — because we think a city café can hold both.

How we pour

The three rounds

In a traditional ceremony, the same beans are brewed three times, each round a little lighter and a little gentler than the last. We use the same idea to structure how we brew, serve, and pace your visit.

አቦል Abol — first round

The strongest pour

Freshly roasted beans, ground moments before brewing. Bold, concentrated, served to set the tone — this is the cup that wakes the room up.

ጦና Tona — second round

The conversation cup

Same grounds, hot water added again. Softer, rounder, meant for lingering — most of our regulars order their second cup exactly here.

በረካ Baraka — third round

The blessing

Light, gentle, and traditionally the cup of good fortune. We pour it on the house for anyone who's stayed for all three rounds.
